Roland Perrenoud


The Swiss oboe player Roland Perrenoud was a student of Heinz Holliger, Edgar Shann and Françoise Faller.

He was awarded the first prize at the International Competition of « Youth and Music » in Vienna, the Soloist Prize of the Swiss Musicians Association and was a finalist of the ARD competition in Munich.

He began his orchestra career in the Netherlands as solo oboist of the Noordelijk Filharmonisch Orkest in Groningen, continuing in the same position with the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest in Hilversum. He was then hired by the Radio Symphonie Orchester Berlin, as solo English horn.

He  returned to Switzerland to take up the solo oboe position in the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, before taking up the same position in the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, until 2014.

He has recorded the major romantic pieces for oboe with the pianist Marc Pantillon and a lot of chamber music works with the OSR octet and his wind Ensemble Arlequin, which organizes every year a music summer camp at the Hindemith Music Centre in Blonay.

Roland Perrenoud has been teaching oboe and chamber music at the Haute Ecole de Musique of Geneva until 2015.
